For the first article on #XenobladeMonth, we’ll announce the way we’ll close the month! This is Bagogames’ Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament: The Fight for the Monado. We’ll celebrate the ending of the site’s Xenoblade Month with a bang! This tournament will be run on July 11th and 12th. Smash players will be able to enjoy an online tournament with the prize being a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition.
Smash Ultimate Tournament Rules
Much like our BBTAG tournament, this Smash Bros. tournament run a Swiss/Double Elimination bracket. Additionally, due to the problematic issues with Ultimate’s netcode, we will be limiting the participation to North America (Mexico/US/Canada).
However, you can expect the structure of the tournament to be similar to other Smash tournaments. In other words, you’ll see the usual competitive ruleset seen in other Smash Ultimate events:
- 3 Stocks
- 7 Minutes
- Stage Hazards Off
Additionally, the tournament will include some rules for netplay. Big thanks to the Fightin’ Foenatics for providing us with advice on this regard! Here are our rules for Attendance and Lag Testing:
- In the event of a laggy connection joining:
- A high ping with the other participants is not an automatic disqualification.
- However, a stable enough internet connection for matches is required (so matches can progress in a timely fashion without too many delays).
- If matches cannot be spectated due to connection issues, they will be played off-stream and off-server in a private lobby between the two players.
- If the match continues to be unplayable, one of the TOs will attempt to determine which player’s connection is the source of the issue and issue a disqualification (both players will be disqualified if it is unclear where the issue lies).
Attendance Rules:
- It is required to go to the TSR Discord for communication purposes (which you can join below).
- You can apply for connection testing at any time before the tournament begins.
- Check-ins will happen 1 hour before the tournament begins.
- Missing the grace period will result in an automatic loss during Swiss Pools and Forfeit match during Bracket, so please be on time.
Additional Details
