The King of Fighters XV’s release becomes more and more anticipated the more that time passes, and SNK seems to be quite aware of it, too. Characters from previous titles return, and a cinematic story mode has been confirmed, but there’s a bigger piece of news that came out today for the upcoming SNK 3v3 fighter.
Previously, the game was delayed to a mere 2022 release date, leaving the state of the game in question as they pump out more character trailers. This update, hopefully, will allay some previous release concerns with Sony exclusivity. Let’s see what was updated today, being a King of Fighters XV new release date.
PC and Xbox Can Shatter All Expectations
So, the big deal with today’s announcement is that The King of Fighters XV received a new release date. Players also learned of five more mediums to play the game when it releases in 2022. Aside from the rather obvious PlayStation 4 and 5 releases, the Xbox Series consoles, the Windows 10 Store, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store will be getting ahold of this game. There also aren’t any notes on whether the game will have split release dates like SNK’s other fighting game, Samurai Shodown. You can view the original tweet from SNK GLOBAL below.

An interesting note about the King of Fighters as a series is that, as of The King of Fighters XIII in 2011, Xbox has not seen a King of Fighters title since. After 11 years, however, it seems that it’ll be another stage to control the likes of Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, and Terry Bogard. However, no information on an Xbox One version was shown, so it’s unknown whether it’ll be safe to assume they’ll be able to join in, too. Crossplay is also another topic left unanswered, as rival fighting game Guilty Gear Strive has partial crossplay between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users.
