With the latest trailer for The Last of Us premiering at the VGAs last week and revealing the game’s release date of May 7th, it’s now time to start talking about pre-orders. Because all of the best games have pre-order incentives.
To start, we have the Sights & Sounds Pack that comes with the game when pre-ordered from certain retailers (specific ones have yet to be named, but you can probably guess which ones) and will contain: the official soundtrack for the game, a PS3 Dynamic Theme that features the cover art and Two PSN Avatars –Winter Joel and Winter Ellie– for your profile.
Meanwhile, when pre-ordering the game from GameStop, the Survival Pack will come in addition to the Sights & Sound Pack, and will contain: bonus xp and a melee attack booster for multiplayer, in-game money, character items for your multiplayer characters that you can customize and, upon completing the single player once, special bonus skins for Joel and Ellie.
Who knows what kind of multiplayer we can expect from The Last of Us, but Community Strategist at Naughty Dog, Arne Meyer, has stated that the multiplayer portion of the game will be detailed soon enough. Hopefully well before the games launch in May. I’m not sure how I feel about The Last of Us having multiplayer, but we have several months to be convinced that it’s worth having. Only five months, guys!
