<p>Announced this past weekend in Los Angeles California, the winners of the 87th Academy Awards are in – and the race was between a washed-up superhero and a twelve-year-old boy.</p>
<p><em>Birdman </em>and <em>The Grand Budapest Hotel </em>tied for the most golden statuettes last Sunday. Director Alejandro Gonazaléz&#8217;s black-comedy, <em>Birdman,</em> took home awards in best picture, director, cinematography, and original screenplay, leaving <em>Budapest Hotel</em> with acclaim for original score, production design, costume design, and best hair and makeup.</p>
<p>Other notable victors of the night included such favorites as actors Eddie Remayne of <em>The Theory of Everything</em> acclaim,<em> Boyhood</em>&#8216;s Patricia Arquette, and <em>Still Alice</em>&#8216;s Julianne Moore.</p>
<p>The show, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris (<em>How I Met Your Mother</em>), saw over fifty films receive nominations and a variety of antics from its participants, the least of which was Harris stripping down to his undies in homage to <em>Birdman</em> – sans the winged apparitions.</p>
