There’s Poop in My Soup Review

There's Poop in my Soup, Rudder Games

There’s Poop In My Soup is an interesting game to say the least. It’s a strange game that offers humor and entertainment in a unique premise, and in unexpected ways. This is an arcade style game that will keep you coming back for laughs and to compete with friends on Steam Leaderboards for the highest score.

There are only a few locations in this game but there are quite a bit of objectives to complete in each area on your To-Poo List. Even after you complete them all, you can revisit the locations to improve on your personal best or compete with friends’ scores. The fun isn’t so much in the unlockables but more in the arcade-style gameplay that you’ll likely enjoy experiencing in short bursts. In each location you will be tasked with pooping on different people and objects. This can be a bit difficult to achieve for some of the objectives, but it will get easier as you get acclimated to the control method and style. The concept may sound repulsive, but the game’s charming graphics cause it to be more humorous than disgusting.

There’s Poop in my Soup is a sharp and colorful game with a unique art style. The frame rate will get rough from time to time but this normally only happens when there is a lot happening on screen. It usually only gets to this point when you throw a Poop Bomb down to the unsuspecting crowd. These explode and hit many people and objects and this just causes a mass panic. At this point, there is poop everywhere, people getting dragged by strollers, and just mass hysteria. This will be so humorous that the player won’t be too concerned with the frame rate. Once the action calms down a bit then the frame rate will go back to normal. Everything looks good in this game, and the visuals are sharp while the frame rate is normally pretty consistent.

There are two distinct styles to the music in this game. When you’re planning your moves or after losing your combo, the music is calm and more atmospheric. Once the antics are cranked up to eleven and the hysteria is in full effect, the music will be much more zany and energetic. This encourages the player to keep their combo going and carefully plan their moves. It may sound silly but you’ll learn to enjoy this crazy music. There were times that I just dropped a Poop Bomb just to ensure I hit someone and get the crazy music going again immediately.

This game is a lot of fun. Even with it being under two hours to finish all the To-Poo lists, achievements, and complete everything, you’ll keep coming back to this. This game is not only fun and enjoyable to play but the competitive element with Steam Leaderboards will keep this game going for quite some time. This game may not be perfect, but it does a lot of things right.

This may just be a silly poop game and be absolutely ridiculous in its premise, but I really enjoy playing this game and know others will too. Even when you slow down after unlocking most things, I’m sure you’ll come back to it to touch up on your skills or for a good laugh. While I do wish this game had controller support and a better aiming system, I don’t think the lack of these inclusions ruin the experience. They just hinder it a bit and hold it back from being as great as it could be. I am looking forward to not only seeing more from this developer but also the next big release from Steam Greenlight. If you’re looking for a fun game that will offer some laughs, then what do you have to lose? This “crappy” game is only a buck at full price!
