Third-Party Steam Box Price Starts At ‘Just’ $1000

When Valve first announced that they were releasing their own console (of sorts) the gaming world erupted in excitement and wonder. Forums, chat rooms and websites across the internet discussed the possibilities the launch would have on the console market and if it would be a success in the long term whilst others questioned the point of a Steam Box altogether when they could just build there own, so to speak.

The first third-party Steam Box, the Xi3 Piston console’s pricing has been revealed… it starts at $1000. Saying that though if you preorder now you do get $100 off and a guaranteed delivery window of the “2013 holiday season”. Fair enough?

Whilst there are other unofficial Steam Box consoles this is the most high-profile and it has been designed with Steam’s Big Picture mode in mind to ensure that you get the maximum enjoyment out of the little box when you hook it up to your living room television set.

Going deeper into specifics, the Xi3 Piston’s specifications currently revealed to the public state that it has 8GB of RAM and a 3.2Ghz Quad Core (R464) processor. Three SSDs will be available also in the flavor of internal 128GB, internal 256GB and internal 512GB.

Preordering can be done from clicking the following sentence: “I have a lot of money”.

Will you be putting your name down for a Xi3 Piston console?
