Thirsty Thursday Culture Cocktail – December 8, 2016

Peanuts Worldwide, LLC

It’s the holidays and no matter what your beliefs are, you’re likely celebrating something! It’s a fun time to spend with family, friends, video games, drinks, and everything else you hold dear to your heart. Many of us are looking forward to winter weather and just as many of us are dreading it. No matter what though, we can all agree on one thing: ‘Tis the season to stay inside and play some great video games! It’s also a great time for some mighty tasty drinks which we’ve got some recipes for below for anyone interested in trying what we’re sippin’!

Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix

Holiday Fantasy Nog

1 Glass of Eggnog (spiked with your liquor of choice)

2 Cups of Final Fantasy XV

1 Cup of your favorite Christmas film

Add holiday favorites to taste as needed

With the release of Final Fantasy XV, this marks the perfect way to dive into a fantasy this holiday season. Once you’ve had your fill of the world of Eos, sip your glass of nog while you watch your favorite Christmas film! If that doesn’t satisfy your festive cravings, keep adding your holiday favorites until you are satisfied or until New Year’s Day rolls around–whichever comes first!

No Man’s Sky, Hello Games

Festivus

2 oz Splatoon

2 oz Watch_Dogs 2

5 oz No Man’s Sky

1 oz A Charlie Brown Christmas

After hurriedly choking down all the Christmas shopping or at least as much as you can stand, calm yourself down with some Splatoon and Charlie Brown. This is best served snuggled warmly under a cozy blanket with those you love the most. Then after satisfying your desire for stealth with Watch_Dogs 2, reach all the way to the back of the cabinet to grab that thing you thought you’d finished: No Man’s Sky. This next part is important though: Make sure to add the ‘Foundation Update’ to make it safe for consumption. WARNING: For those who enjoy challenging survival games, sci-fi and Spaceman Spiff, make sure to clear your gaming calendar before indulging!

Die Hard, 20th Century Fox

The ‘Now I Have a Machine Gun’

8 oz of Dying Light

2 oz Die Hard

2 oz Die Harder

A Spritz of A Christmas Story

Killing zombies face to face just isn’t as festive as I’d like but Bruce Willis killing people warms my heart and makes me think of Christmas.

Mass Effect 2, EA

The ‘Getting a lot of bullshit on this line’ Splash

8 oz Mass Effect 2

2 oz Oblivion

3 oz Spotify

2 oz JonTron & Dunky

Add Holiday based Beer as needed (read: a lot)

Look, it’s been a crazy year. There’s no denying it. No matter your stance on the election, it was crazy and worse than previous elections. A lot of great people died as well; Alan Rickman, David Bowie, Gene Wilder, Leonard Cohen, and many, many more great and influential people unfortunately passed away–and all in the same year! John Oliver summed up 2016 better than I ever could or would want to in a Bagogames article but I’m sure you can Youtube it and then later join me in how I feel about this year. I’m choosing to bring in the holidays and the new year with some good old Mass Effect 2. I love this whole series but have played the first game plenty and want to jump right into the fight with my crew. I’ll dive into Mass Effect 3 right after I finish but it might take a little bit because I’ll definitely be playing some Oblivion as well. I never played it and have always wanted to. I’ll be listening to some Regina Spektor, Run the Jewels, and Nirvana while I enjoy some JonTron and Dunk as well–and who could forget some refreshing and crisp holiday brews.

The holidays are a great and wonderful time and it’s always best enjoyed with good brews and good friends. We hope you guys have a great time with your family and friends and would love to hear what you’re all doing for the holidays–gaming or otherwise! Let us know on Twitter @bagogames or tweet us individually too! Seriously though guys, we’ll be saying this again but it can’t be said enough:

From all of us at Bagogames: Happy Holidays and we hope you have a great time with family and friends. Do something nice for someone and keep it going into the new year. If we all showed a little extra kindness to someone we didn’t know every chance we got, this world would be a much warmer place.
