Welcome to this week’s Thirsty Thursday Culture Cocktail!

No matter who you voted for, the 2016 election is finally over! We can all finally get back to TV, advertisements, and the news going back to normal! Wait … let me rephrase that; we can all finally get back to TV and advertisements going back to normal! We’re all playing some games to relax and cope with all the madness and thought we’d share what we’re sipping on! So, without further ado, this is what we’re all drinking this week and how we think it’s going to go down!

Excitebike, Nintendo

Make America Retro Again

5 gallons of disappointment

12 oz of whiskey

2 oz of Excitebike

2 oz of Duck Hunt

2 oz of DuckTales

2 oz of Contra

2 oz of California Games

Start by ripping a hole in your gut and aggressively pouring in the first ingredient. Once you are completely disgusted by humanity as a whole, consume 1 oz of whiskey at a time until you can no longer feel your legs. (This may vary based on your tolerance level; additional shots may be required.) Then, in no specific order, retreat into the remaining ingredients and try to forget the outside world. If tears begin to flow, don’t worry; it’s common and will happen. Combat regularly with more whiskey as needed.

– Corey Atwood

Rainbow Hope Hard Cider

2 shots of community unity

A cup of apple cider

A shot of vodka

Garnish with a small rainbow flag on a toothpick

Add your favorite games as needed

To make a Donald Trump Presidency a bit easier to swallow, try this cocktail! It is best served with games such as The Last of Us, or some titles by Bioware, which enable same sex relationships. This cocktail is also best served in tight knit groups of friends who can help you maintain hope for the future. Remember: we’re stronger together and Love Trumps Hate.

Okinawa Saki Shot
4 Oz of Yakuza 3

10 Oz of Human Revolution

A splash of Persona 2

Seeing as though one day I’d like to see Japan with my own eyes, I decided to see Japan through some developers’ eyes. Yakuza 3 walks me through parts of Okinawa and Tokyo, Human Revolution allows me to see the world’s future through their eyes and Persona 2 allows me to see their urban legends and folktales. I love to learn while I game and learning about this interesting culture is amazing. Drink up faithful readers!

Progressive Freedom Sunset

Everclear (repeatedly and as needed)

6 oz of Bioshock Infinite

3 oz of Regina Spektor

3 oz of Run the Jewels

Like Corey and Alexx, I’m ripping a whole in my body and filling it with alcohol, sadness, and hope for the future. I’m replaying Bioshock Infinite as it’s one of my favorite games and it’s the only way I can feel like I’m making a difference in the fight against freedom and all things awful – other than of course also being politically involved. Regina Spektor’s album ‘Remember Us to Life’ has been on repeat since it first released since she’s one of my favorite artists and her music gives me hope for how wonderful America and the world can truly be. Run the Jewels is just one of my favorite rap groups and Killer Mike always helps me handle anger. Drink up everyone and make sure to order a second round! Everclear gets more effective and has less flavor with each and every shot.
