Thirsty Thursday Culture Cocktail – October 27, 2016

Black Mirror, Netflix

Black Mirror, Netflix

Welcome to this week’s Thirsty Thursday Culture Cocktail!

Fall is finally here so it’s time to bundle up and have even more excuses to stay inside and play too many video games! At Bagogames, we’re all playing horror games to compliment Halloween – and of course because they go great with candy … and all the fall flavored brews!

Anyway – time for us to tell you what we’re drinking this week and how we think it’s gonna go down!

Bioshock Collection, 2K

Slightly Spooky Halloween Mojito

A Splash of Bioshock
6 oz Fallout 4
2 oz American Horror Story: Roanoke
Garnished with the Underworld Franchise

I’m probably one of the few people that doesn’t like traditional horror games. I’ve blended up a nice cocktail that consists of finishing my third Fallout 4 playthrough with some Bioshock Collection for extra creepy atmosphere. Like many horror fans, I’ve been captivated by the newest season of American Horror Story and will be imbibing the newest episode before capping off the week with a marathon of the Underworld franchise to prepare for Underworld Blood Wars in January. Sometimes feeling awesome while killing splicers, watching vampires fight werewolves, and wandering the wasteland can be just as satisfying as killer clowns and spooky ghosts on Halloween.

Gears of War 4, Microsoft

Crisp Autumn Horde

10 oz Luke Cage
10 oz Gears of War 4
A smidge of apple picking
An all too generous amount of yard work

As the last ingredient is clearly the most bitter, pour it first, then stir with “apple picking.” Finally, thoroughly blend equal parts “Luke Cage” with “Gears of War 4” together before adding them to the mix. For an optional, more authentic “New England Experience,” pour entire mixture into an extra large Dunkin’ Donuts pumpkin coffee before serving.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, 2K

Blood Red Vodka Cranberry

8 oz Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare
2 oz Dead Rising Remastered
Throw in a tin and shake gently
Pour over ice
Garnish with a little Tokyo Mirage Sessions

Horror games are my weakness, and October is the best time to play them. After hearing the Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement, I had a hankering to get back in the saddle, but I wanted a horror twist to the fiasco. Seeing that zombies are all the rage, I also went shopping with my buddy Frank West and picked out a nice sledgehammer while we were out. To break up the zombie smashing, I decided to throw in some typical JRPG antics and there you have it, a perfect Thursday night.

Alan Wake, Remedy

Survival Sunrise Surprise

4 oz Alan Wake
2 oz Dead Space 3
A splash of Goosebumps
Garnished beautifully with Black Mirror

I’m drinking a tall strong drink this weekend and I know I’ll be playing late into the night, but don’t worry – I brought plenty of flash bangs and extra batteries! I’m mostly playing through both Alan Wake and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare for a features article. I’m also playing through Dead Space 3 for fun. I had never played the games and just finished the first two in the last three weeks. I’m having a blast with Black Mirror and if you haven’t seen it, get on Netflix right now and start binging! And of course, what’s a month of October like without some classic Goosebumps?
