Tony Hawk Documentary Coming To VoD This Summer

Skating Through History

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remastered Collection has fans anticipating it for the games release on September 4th, 2020. Accompany the remasters this year will be Pretending I’m a Superman. A Tony Hawk documentary that will be doing a deep dive into the story of the first game, and future installments development. As well, how it affected the skateboard and gaming industry.

Tony Hawk’s career took a downwards spiral in the 1990s. In Pretending I’m a Superman trailer, Tony states that “In the ‘90s everything about skateboarding was an ‘us versus them’ mentality”. Star power was fading and income was cut in half, so he took whatever he to stay afloat. This mentality has led him to strike a deal with Activision in the late 90s to create a video game based around him. Neversoft was set to develop Tony Hawk Pro Skater; becoming a huge critical and financial success.

The documentary’s story is comprised of interviews of Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, and Jamie Thomas. They will be discussing how the first game came to be and brought skateboarding into a light. In 1999, the world saw the release of Tony Hawk Pro Skater and took it by storm. Selling 9 million copies upon release and from there a successful franchise was born.

August 18th is the set release date for all digital platforms.
