Paper Unicorn is an independent developer that is planning to launch their first title, Transmission. They’ve revealed the first trailer for their space adventure title, and boy does it look gorgeous. Check it out above and then marvel at screenshots from the game below:
The game features a hand-painted aesthetic that really drives home how beautiful the game is. Not only that, but the combat also looks interesting. Deriving itself from something akin to The Legend of Zelda, there looks to be an impact to combat situations that isn’t always present in video games. According to Paper Unicorn, Transmission is about you waking up on an unknown planet with no idea of how you got there. Players will have to explore the alien world to discover how to get off the planet. Incidentally, they will find themselves learning about the planet’s history and lore, as well as their own character’s past.
Paper Unicorn looks to be attempting to make a game that has an impact because of its visuals. On their official site, they state that their mission “is to create games that are both visually and emotionally captivating, transporting players into beautiful worlds with thoughtful story lines“. Based on this trailer and the screenshots, I think they may just have a winner on their hands.
