Ubisoft Is Backtracking On An Upcoming Release For Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft

Last week, Ubisoft announced that it would be removing the $40 Standard Edition of Rainbow Six Siege from stores and replacing it with a $60 Advanced Edition.

The $40 Standard Edition came with the base game and the 20 operators that have already been released. The $60 Advanced Edition would have come with what the Standard Edition offered but 600 R6 credits and 10 Outbreak packs, which are a part of the game’s upcoming Outbreak event–this event would see teams of three teaming up to take on a “mysterious threat” in a town that has been quarantined off from its surroundings. The Outbreak event will come with more event-exclusive gear and it’s assumed that some of this gear can be found in the Outbreak packs.

Much of the Siege community were left unhappy with this announcement, feeling that their time and loyalty in the game weren’t being rewarded appropriately. Today on the Siege subreddit, the team responded to community complaints by announcing the Standard Edition would remain available even after the launch of the Advanced Edition. They also stated that anyone who plays an online match between now and March 6 will receive the upcoming Ash Sidewinder Elite skin for free.
