UK Gamestation Stores To Be Rebranded Into GAME Stores

Game Retail Ltd. have today announced that all 122 of their highly successful Gamestation stores located across the UK will be rebranded into standard GAME stores, consolidating the two chains into one chain of stores, over the next two months. The rebranding will also coincide with a slight overhaul for the company’s stores in general but, according to Game Retail boss Martyn Gibbs, “The new GAME will combine the best of both brands”.

Gibbs laid out several planned features for the rebranded stores. There will be a brand new loyalty scheme, free WiFi in all shops, a better PC download service, a new GAME app and a new system called “GAME Hunter”. GAME Hunter will let customers browse and order any game from GAME’s entire catalogue for delivery to any UK home address. And that means “any”; old or new, physical or digital, in store or at a warehouse somewhere.

Finally, and I’m sure these are the most important parts for many of Gamestation’s customers (myself included), their trade-in pledge of “We won’t be beaten” still stands and all of the Gamestation staff (who, in my experience, are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly) will be kept on to set the example for the new Game stores.  Here is Gibbs speaking to MCV on the matter.

Our aim is to hold the UK’s biggest range of games, gaming gear and exclusive content whilst also ensuring that we are constantly evolving, listening to our customers and adapting our approach to really deliver for them. The above initiatives are only a snapshot of a whole host of exciting plans in the pipeline: new titles, formats, partnerships, digital initiatives. We forward to sharing them with our customers as soon as we can.
