Opening up PlayStation Experience 2016, Sony wasted no time showing off a game no one knew was coming. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy has been announced for PS4 and will feature Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross, the latter of which was introduced in Uncharted 4. A demo was shown which shows off a specific setting from the game and provides fans with a little taste of the characters and their chemistry. At a panel today for the game, more information was divulged about the setting and where the demo takes place in the context of the game.
Set after Uncharted 4, the game will feel a lot like an Uncharted game but without Nathan Drake at the helm. Instead, Chloe will be the main character, with Nadine at her side. The whole game will be set in India, including the opening sequence which you can watch above. The sequence shown is only near the beginning of the game as Chloe is on the search for a clue that will propel her adventure forward. Due to the setting, a lot of Indian mythology and culture will be worked into the narrative.
As for how long this piece of content will be, Naughty Dog remained vague. They did state that it would be longer than The Last of Us: Left Behind but shorter than Uncharted 4. Areas may also be more open than they were in Uncharted 4. Of course, due to Chloe’s knack for driving, you can expect some driving segments.
We’ll keep our ears to the ground on more news about the spin-off title. I, for one, am curious how things are handled in comparison to a Nathan Drake story with the new character focus. Naughty Dog stated during the panel that things will be different because it is Chloe, but I’m hoping that goes more into the themes and narrative than it does just aesthetics and animations.
