Finally, after recent speculation, Vanquish is making its way to PC for the first time. Coming May 25th, SEGA announced that the game will join the rest of their “Best Practice Conversion Titles” to have come to PC including Bayonetta and Valkyria Chronicles. Those who have purchased Bayonetta for PC or do so before May 25th, will receive 25% off their pre-order of Vanquish. You can check out a trailer for the PC release below.
For the uninitiated, Vanquish puts players in control of Sam Gideon as he slides through high-energy combat scenarios in a stylish mix of gunfire and melee combat. There was even a dedicated button to smoke! It was an insanely fast-paced game with so much style that it is no surprise it was directed by Shinji Mikami, of Resident Evil fame. With the PC version, the game will have an unlocked framerate, 4k support, a slew of graphics options, and full mouse and keyboard support. The game will be available on Steam with full Steam functionality including achievements and trading cards.
There will also be a Digital Deluxe edition of the game available only to those who pre-order. It will include a 5-track soundtrack sampler, avatars of characters and enemies, an art book and exclusive wallpapers. If you don’t get it before May 25th, the Digital Deluxe edition will revert back to the Standard Edition and you’ll miss out on its special features.
If you’re a fan of the Bayonetta series or Platinum Games in general, you owe it to yourself to pick up and play Vanquish. It’s probably my favourite of Platinum’s offerings, and that’s amidst a ton of great action games.
