Video Game Speed Run Charity to Kick Off 2015

Games Done Quick is a charity event where twice a year, highly skilled gamers from all over the world gather to speed run through some of the most famous and classic video games. For over five years, these marathon gaming events have raised millions of dollars for charities like Doctors Without Borders, and in an announcement on Thursday, Games Done Quick laid out their plans for the upcoming year.

Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ), the winter speed run series, will take place at the Hilton Dulles Airport Hotel in Herndon, VA, Jan 4-10 of 2015. Donations collected during the event will go directly to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

In a statement, the team behind the event explained that “AGDQ 2015 gives these runners not only a chance to show off their skills, but to do so with the aid of the inclusive speedrunning community. It’s a get together of talent, friends, and commentary–all from a big comfy couch.”

Awesome Games Done Quick is open to the public and tickets are available on the Games Done Quick website. The event will also be live streamed via Twitch.
