Voice Actor Wants Reclaimer Trilogy to end with Heroes Death

If you are like many fans of the Halo franchise, you are excited for the upcoming Halo 4 and the pending trilogy. You probably already have ideas of where you’d like to see the trilogy go and end. Steve Downes, the voice actor who plays Master Chief, has his own ideas of were he would like things to go for John-117, and they are not pretty.

In a recent interview with Shacknews, Downes said he was very pleased with how things were with Halo 4 and the story of Master Chief and Cortana. “This is where I always hoped we would go with Halo,” said Downes. “So when they said that the idea on Halo 4 was in many ways Master Chief’s story, and his relationship with Cortana, and with the other people he comes in contact with, I was real excited that we were going to go a little deeper in that regard. We did a lot more in the studio this time than I’ve ever done before with him.

“All along, he’s been trying to sort out what his relationship is with this AI,” Downes added. “He doesn’t really know where to put these feelings that he has for her, so there’s a lot of that in this game.” Even though Cortana and Master Chief have a stories past, that story has not been explored in depth.

Downes did not limit his thoughts on the franchise to Halo 4 exclusively. He stated that he hopes that by the time the Reclaimer trilogy ends, the career of Master Chief will follow suit. “That would be the end for him, rather than riding off into the sunset,” he said. “If that was it, then that should be it. He should die a hero’s death. If it were up to me, that’s the way I would finish it.”
