Oculus has announced that its first mobile virtual reality headset will be available next month for those looking to get in on the ground floor. The “Innovator Edition” will cost $199, but that doesn’t include the Samsung Note 4 you’ll need to make use of it.
According to a cursory search, The Note 4 is available from a variety of service providers with contract for approximately $300. This brings the price tag for Oculus’ first mobile VR solution to around $500 – $550 with a bundled bluetooth gamepad.
Gamers will have to wait to get their mitts on the gadget as its still not the intended retail version for your local store’s shelves. Instead, developers and virtual reality fans will be the first to get exclusive access. We’ll just have to see what comes of the company’s latest step into the VR ring and how it stacks up against Facebook and Sony’s respective muscle.
