Warner Bros Changing Edge of Tomorrow’s Title for Video

Of all the great summer movies we’ve had in 2014, the most underrated by far would be Doug Liman’s Edge of Tomorrow. Based on the manga All You Need is Kill, the film did very poorly at the domestic box office despite raving reviews from critics all around. Warner Bros could be thinking the poor sales may have something to do with the bland title of the film (despite seeming like a better alternative to the original). At least it appears that way based on how they’re titling the film for home video release. The Bluray cover slams the actual title into the bottom corner of the artwork with the tagline Live Die Repeat taking center stage. And if you look up the film for purchase on iTunes, it appears as Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow.

So it appears they just split the difference as they just couldn’t decide on a proper title for the film. Whatever they call it, this is certainly one of the best sci-fi/action films of the year and worth seeking out by any name. Don’t let Tom Cruise being the protagonist throw you. This is actually one of the most intelligent action films I’ve seen in a long time and it infuriates me that it was so understated for something as simple as a title.
