Watch 16 Minutes of Mind-Bending Chaos in Quantum Break

Earlier at this summer, Remedy Entertainment pulled back the curtain on all the action and intrigue of its newest action title, Quantum Break, in a full gameplay demo at this year’s Gamescom. You can watch the 16-minute demo recently provided by the studio, narrated by Remedy’s creative director Sam Lake.

Brought to you by the folks behind 2010’s Alan Wake and the original Max Paynes, Quantum Break delivers an “action spectacle” in tandem with a live-action show due later next year, Lake tells us. The game follows Quantum Break‘s hero, Jack Joyce, as he shoots and sleuths his way through a “time travel experiment gone wrong,” before time itself runs out. The show revolves around the conspiracies and intrigue within the villainous corporation Monarch Solutions. Together, they form an intertwining narrative where the actions you take directly impact how the story across both the game and the show unfolds.

As advertised, the game pops with action, intrigue, and no shortage of slo-mo spectacle. Jack’s bullet-time sequences leave their mark Max Payne-style coupled with Matrix-ish punches breaking up the fast-paced chaos with slick breathers. Add that to the “breaks in time” that surround Jack, allowing him a short window of opportunity to reverse and predict timed in-game events before they happen. It might just make a difference for one urban bridge.

Quantum Break is expected to release Q2, 2015 only for Xbox One along with its TV show to air exclusively for Xbox Live.
