Watch Dogs 2 Will Seamlessly Integrate Online Bounty Hunts and Co-op

One of the big hooks that the original Watch Dogs touted was that it was going to have seamless online play. It didn’t completely nail it, which was kind of a bummer, but it did for the most part. However, I have faith that Watch Dogs 2 will fully capitalize on this with its new online modes. In the trailer above, Ubisoft outlines the co-op and PvP modes that players will be able to enjoy if they so choose.

Basically, you can opt into or out of the multiplayer if you so choose, just like in the original game. However, a new co-op mode will let you take on an “endless” amount of missions with a buddy. Online Invasions will are similar to how they were in the first game, with players trying to hack others. You’ll be able to utilize your arsenal of tech and weaponry to find and eliminate the hacker.

Then finally, there is a bounty hunter mode which will happen when players do enough illegal activities, such as harming civilians. Bounty hunters will enter your game and try to take you out to claim a reward. However, you can turn the tables on them by hunting them down instead for an even bigger reward. Remember that everything related to online multiplayer is completely optional, so you can opt out whenever. Choosing to partake will positively impact your progression in the game as both online and offline activities can lead to more money for better weaponry and gadgets.

I’m personally really excited for Watch Dogs 2 despite the original being fairly lackluster. I managed to find enjoyment out of it, but it always felt like it needed more polish and a bit more uniqueness to itself. Set in San Francisco with a far less grave protagonist, Watch Dogs 2 already seems miles better. It will be released on November 15th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
