WayForward’s April Fools Prank is a New Game

Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche title

Way Forward decided to make their April Fool’s prank a full game release this year, which honestly is a surprise to me.

I usually really loathe April 1st, it’s a day that everyone predictably tries to make fake announcements and pull pranks that usually only results in minor annoyance and the same eye-rolling groans when it comes to the news feed. Most news is often fake or a joke, which makes the day itself feel really hollow.

So, WayForward released a surprise launch trailer for a brand new full game, one that seems to dip into the ridiculous, but seems to be a delightful surprise on a day where many surprises are had without much payoff.

Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche is one of the silliest titles for a game I have ever seen, but it looks to simply take that ridiculousness up to eleven and just try to do everything. It’s a side-scrolling shooter that takes elements from basically every game imaginable and crams them into a super stylized cutesy hyper shooter.

The game is only $7.99 on Switch and looks to be a silly adventure that pushes its wacky style and humor into every game genre, using the main character’s gun to shoot projectiles that take inspiration from much different game genre’s and looks to be a bang for your buck.

WayForward is celebrating its 30th year anniversary as a studio this year, as well as releasing Shantae and the Seven Sirens, which has a great opening animation made by Studio Trigger, so it’s nice to see them doing something so fun.

Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch marketplace for $7.99 today. Go ahead and give WayForward’s April Fools game a try!
