Weekly Wrap-Up Featured Image

It’s the weekend, which means two things: 1) Everyone gets some gaming time (I hope) and 2) the first entry of this year’s Weekly Wrap-Up is coming your way. Below, you’ll find brief summaries of our top 5 stories from this week, as well as a few stories that were interesting, but weren’t quite that big to make the cut. As always, if you want to read the full story, simply click on the link hidden in the titles. If you have suggestions for future entries, feel free to email me at jeremy.tyler@bagogames.com.

Here we go.

Xbox One Updates Coming Next Week

Xbox One owners should have a reason to get excited about some updates coming their way next week on February 11, 2014.  There is going to be lots of behind the scenes updates for developers as well.  One big change you will get to see is the ability to see and manage extra storage space.  This will help to show how much space your content takes up and therefore will make it easier to manage that content when adding new DLC.  Owners will also get to control their install lineup so they can more easily manage what’s queued for download.

The battery power indicator is making a comeback as well.  Xbox One owners will be able to see it right on their home screens so they can more easily track how much battery power is getting eaten on their controllers.  Users will also finally be able to use the USB keyboard with their Xbox One too.

New Sonic Game Rumors a Hoax

It was announced just this past weekend that Sega has a new console game in the works for Wii U, PS4, and the Xbox One in 2015 are nothing but a hoax according to Sega.  This was after a promo at a German toy show was released which seemed to blow the proverbial rumor horn but alas it wasn’t true.

After the blowout of Sonic Lost World on Wii U it remains to be seen if the blue blur will dare make an appearance outside of the Super Smash Bros. series again anytime soon on a major console.  The rumor was put forth on a placard by the company Jazwares and it omitted a third Nintendo exclusive after Sonic Lost World.

Nate Irving, Broncos’ Linebacker Plays Pokemon

With the 48th Super Bowl taking place earlier this week, many of the players were interviewed and asked what they do to relax before the most important day in the football season. The Wall Street Journal interviewed Brancos’ Nate Irving who revealed his love for Pokemon.

The 25 year old linebacker said instead of sightseeing, he is spending his time playing his Pokemon game in his hotel room. Within the interview, Irving did not reveal which Pokemon game he is currently playing but did explain he takes his Nintendo handheld, assuming it is a 3DS, with him on various trips. The interview also states that Irving used to play the Pokemon card game growing up. Unfortunately, the interviewer failed to ask which Pokemon is his favorite, but perhaps Irving would rather it remain a mystery.

Number 1

Disney Interactive Laying Off 200 Hundred Workers

Despite the new successful Disney Infinity game, a leak on the web claims Disney Interactive (the video game group), is about to let 200 of their works go due to problems with reaching high profits. The Disney Interactive Media group currently has around 3,000 workers.

This is not the first time the group has had lay-offs. In 2012, 50 employees were laid off and almost a year ago, in April 2013, around 150 employees lost their jobs with the company. According to examiner.com, the Disney Infinity game sold over 3 million copies. The Walt Disney Company has yet to confirm this rumor; yet many websites are anticipating the beginning of the cuts to take place this week.
