It has just been announced that Donkey Kong’s nephew, Diddy Kong, will be joining the ranks of Smash Bros fighters which will make him number 23 so far.  Diddy will be sporting his double banana guns, barrel jet pack, and stretchy limbs akin to Dhalsim from Street Fighter fame.  This news comes today after it was announced last week that Punch Out’s Little Mac would also be jumping into the fray.

Year of Luigi Ending

Mario‘s little brother Luigi has enjoyed a whole year of special treatment with his own games. Now that 2013 is over, Nintendo has announced the Year of Luigi will offically end on March 18. On Miiverse today Miyamoto asked fans to leave comments for Luigi: “Almost a year has passed since I announced the Year of Luigi, marking the 30th anniversary of Luigi’s debut. Thanks to everyone’s kind support, we were able to release many Luigi games over the course of the year. I hope everyone continues to cheer for the green brother! However, all good things must come to an end, and the Year of Luigi will conclude on March 18.

New Ryse: Son of Rome DLC Revealed

Today on the official Xbox website, Microsoft announced the new add on to the Xbox One exclusive launch game, Ryse: Son of Rome. Excited? Good because it is coming very soon. The new DLC is called “Mars’ Chosen Pack” and adds new maps to the game along with a new character skin. Lastly, the DLC will feature a “brand new” co-operative mode called Survival Mode, yes we have head of this mode a million times. This version of survival not only forces you to battle with a companion against endless waves but also tasks you with keeping your health up through quick kills or “brutal executions.”

Mario Kart 8 Official Release Date

Mario Kart the beloved racing series by Nintendo, will include a game for the Wii U. Mario Kart 8 will be released on May 30, 2014 in North America and will feature online multiplayer. The Nintendo website describes a new twist to the tracks:

“Driving up a waterfall or across the ceiling can provide an intense adrenaline rush, but that’s not all anti-gravity is good for. It also provides a wild new gameplay mechanic: if you collide into other racers in zero-g, you’ll earn speed boosts worth bragging about.”

Nintendo is including a perfect bragging venue with the brand new Mario Kart TV. This new feature will allow the players to upload their video highlights. Another surprise is all of Bowser’s seven minions are going to be playable characters. There is certainly going to be one of the top Mario Kart games if not the best one… but its up to you to decide.
