Guild Wars 2 Sells 1 Million Copies Before Today’s Launch

Guild Wars 2 launched this week the world of Tyria is already populated with over 1 million players. Partial reason for the high pre-release buys is due to the bonus of playing the game before the release date if pre-purchased. The pre-release period has proven effective, as it reached a peak player count of over 400,000.

Unreal Engine 3 is Now Compatible With Windows 8 and Windows RT

It is almost safe to say that the Unreal Engine is on every device conceivable for gaming. The engine is now compatible with Windows 8, as well as Windows RT.The fact that the engine is compatible with Windows 8 surprises no-one. People with tablets however will be rather excited, as this brings a fairly smooth engine to mobile and tablet platforms.

Evil Cole Added to PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale

Another new character has been confirmed for Sony’s upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. At the GameStop Managers Show in San Antonio, TX Sony announced that Evil Cole from the inFAMOUS series has joined the cast. For those that are unfamiliar with the inFAMOUS series, Cole MacGrath’s powers and appearance change to reflect the choices players make in-game. Evil Cole harnesses the powers of both electokinesis and pyrokinesis in battle, which makes him more ruthless than the moral counterpart.

Kojima Unveils Open-World Metal Gear Solid at 25th Anniversary

 

Earlier this week it was reported that Kojima stated, “announcements made at the 25th anniversary would shake the industry.” After the company unveiled gameplay footage for an open-world Metal Gear Solid game, I think most people would agree. The game is going to be called Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and doesn’t have any kind of release date. The only information we have about the game is from the tweets of several people that attended the event.

OnLive CEO Leaves Company

The latest news in the OnLive saga is that CEO Steve Perlman has left the company. OnLive is one of the first cloud gaming services and was forced into bankruptcy last week which lead to massive layoffs of the staff. The good news for those that have the OnLive console or an account is that much of the company will continue as a reformed entity.
