Wesley Snipes is set to reprise his role as Marvel’s iconic vampire hunter, Blade, for a fourth film in the well-known comic book franchise.
According to reports from The Urban Daily, Snipes, who was released from prison in 2013 after serving a lengthy jail sentence for tax evasion, has been offered $3million to once again assume the role he first starred in 1998, which later went on to spawn a well-received sequel in 2002 and a controversial third instalment in 2004.
Marvel had recently confirmed that they had obtained the movie rights to Blade back from New Line Cinema, with it not known whether or not the franchise will now be tied in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Additionally, if Marvel does make the decision to place Blade into the MCU, Snipes will be the first actor to reprise his role in a Marvel film since the creation of the Cinematic Universe.
“I’d be open to it [Blade],” Snipes told MTV earlier this year during San Diego Comic-Con. “I think we’ve got some stones left unturned and there’s some latitude left for us to build on and I’d love to get back in the suit again and do some things I’ve learned how to do now that I didn’t know how to do then.”
Snipes’ most recent acting performance in Hollywood since his release from prison was in last month’s blockbuster The Expendables 3, which he starred alongside Sylvester Stallone, Terry Crews, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, it now looks like the actor is ready to return to one of the most famous roles in his career, and no doubt avid Blade fans will be happy to hear the news.
