Wii U is the ‘Greenest’ Console of Them All

Eurogamer has found that the Wii U is more efficient and ‘greener’ than rivals Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Let’s not over egg the pudding so to speak though, it would be expected that Nintendo would create a much greener console after six years of releasing their last console, the Nintendo Wii, although Eurogamer did find out some other interesting facts when carrying out their research.

When comparing the “power draw figures” when playing the same services/games from all three consoles, Eurogamer found that the Wii U required, in some cases, less than half the amount of power needed by the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. What is interesting to also note is that the Wii U has being compared to the SLIM version of the Xbox 360 and the SUPER SLIM version of the PlayStation 3. Both consoles of which have only recently entered the market.

The results of Eurogamers test found that when playing the FIFA 13 Demo, the Wii U needed 32 w, Xbox 360 Slim needed 67 w and the PlayStation 3 Super Slim (what a mouth-full) needed 66w. Taking a look at apps, the Netflix HD app required 29w from the Wii U, 65w from the Xbox 360 Slim and 62.5w from the PlayStation 3 Super Slim.

Will this finally put an end to arguments about how powerful the Wii U is?
