Publisher Deep Silver has confirmed that the upcoming Saints Row 4 will not be released on the Wii U.

Recently unveiled in a trailer filled with the kind of over-the-top and absurd action the series has become known for, Saints Row 4 was announced as being intended for release on PC and current-gen platforms, but now, clarifying that statement, a representative from Deep Silver has told Polygon that the game will not be appearing on Nintendo’s Wii U console.

Saints Row 4 is the latest in a series of high-profile multiplatform games to not receive a Wii U release, such as Crysis 3 and Dead Island: Riptide, the latter also published by Deep Silver.

Saints Row 4 is developed by Volition and is scheduled for release in North America on 20th August and in the rest of the world on 23rd August.
