The update 5.3.0 U is available right now and it adds the amiibo capability to your Wii U. There is an addition to the standard System setting which now allows gamers to register the amiibo owner (and nickname), delete data that is stored on the amiibo through the supported software and even reset an amiibo. This update is also allowing better system stability.
Amiibo figures are comparable with Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10, and Yoshi’s Wooly World.
The First wave of Amiibo (available November 21, 2014) includes: Mario, Link, Samus, Kirby, Peach, Fox McCloud, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Princess Peach, Marth, Yoshi, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer.
The Second wave of Amiibo (available December 2014) includes: Diddy Kong, Zelda, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Pit and Little Mac.
The Third wave of Amiibo (available February 2015) includes: Rosalina & Luma, Bowser, Toon Link, Sheik, Ike, Shulk, Sonic, Mega Man, King Dedede, and Meta Knight.
