Tekken Game Director: Wii U CPU Clock Speeds Less Than Xbox 360, PS3

In an interview with Digital Spy, Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada revealed that the CPU of Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U has processing speeds lower than the 6+ year-old Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles.  Harada commented that the graphical power was not an issue but that, “as far as the CPU goes, the clock is kinda low.”  With reference to the current version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 being developed he added, “I guess they’re trying to keep power consumption down so we have to come up with creative ways to get around that and its taking a little bit of time.”

This hasn’t been Harada’s only complaint about the Wii U as he has been noted as disliking the Wii U Gamepad as it could be “distracting” during fighting games.  Nonetheless, he claims that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is not far behind its iterations on other platforms and should be set to make its September 11 release date.
