Windjammers 2 has been in and out of the public eye for a bit of time now. It’s no fault of the game itself, though. However, today, the developers at Dotemu (one of the teams behind Streets of Rage 4), revealed that Windjammers 2 will finally be getting an open beta this month. In addition, the game also sports rollback netcode, akin to Skullgirls. But what is Windjammers, exactly?
Windjammers 2, for those unaware, is a sports game like Pong, except it’s like disc golf at the same time. Every character has their own speed and power attributes, and looks beautiful in the process. The game also got a new trailer to go along with the open beta announcement, which you can see below.
Windjammers 2 Open Beta’s Platforms, Active Dates, and More
The Windjammers 2 Open Beta will be available from tomorrow (August 11th) until August 22nd, 2021, and will be active on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. Players will have access to offline modes and online modes such as Ranked Matches. Both Sony consoles will have crossplay enabled, so PS5 users can play matches against those on PS4, and vice versa. Steam users will have their own matchmaking pool separate from PlayStation’s.
The game gives players access to four playable characters, with different styles each. You can read about them and more info regarding the game from Dotemu’s PlayStation Blog post here. The blog post talks about the game’s upcoming release and teases that more mechanics and characters will be revealed before the game’s official launch.
Windjammers 2’s release date is yet to be announced but will be releasing on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
