Developers can now write a single app with a common code that can function on Windows 8.1 phones and PCs and the Xbox One. This means the same app can be available on Windows platforms if it was written with the same code. It helps cut costs down on creating the apps making it easier for developers to design apps. Windows did not announce a universal app store but a feature called “shared app identities” allows you to purchase a universal app once and be able to use it on other Windows platforms.
