Wolfenstein: The New Order releases globally on May 20th

Bethesda announced yesterday that they will be releasing Wolfenstein: The New Order globally on May 20th. Originally the game was slated to be released in North America first and then followed a few days later by Europe and Australia. It will remain to be seen if this is a growing trend in the industry or not. Just last week Sucker Punch released Infamous Second Son globally but prior to that EA chose to release Titanfall on many different dates across the world.

The game is being developed by MachineGames in hopes of reigniting the franchise which is largely responsible for the first person shooter genre. The latest iteration of Wolfenstein takes place in the 1960s. The notorious Nazi regime has been ruling the world since they claimed victory of World War II by using an unknown advanced technology. Players will traverse across Europe in this first-person action-adventure shooter in hopes of ending the Nazi war machine.

For those who are interested in pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order, you will be granted access to the beta for Doom 4. Yes, you read that correct. Doom 4 will go into beta soon and is being re-named to DOOM.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is being released for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on May 20th.
