Although it has been debated for many years, coming to light more recently as more and more female developers come out and try and encourage others to join in presumed male-orientated industry we now have more precise figures describing just how big the gap is between female and male employees within the video game industry.
The survey, delivered by Game Developer Magazine and figures which were republished by the Border House explain the extent of this gap which we’ve listed in easily-digestible bullet points below:
- Artists & Animators- Male Population: 84% Average Male Salary: $77,791 Average Female Salary: $60,238
- Audio Developers- Male Population: 96% Average Male Salary: $82,944 Average Female Salary: $50,000
- Game Designers- Male Population: 89% Average Male Salary: $76,646 Average Female Salary: $61,983
- Producers- Male Population: 77% Average Male Salary: $85,591 Average Female Salary: $78,989
