Xbox Live received a new feature that was announced at E3, called Games with Gold. If you’re familiar with the Instant Games Collection on PSN, then you already have a good grasp on the concept.

Microsoft put up a whole page detailing how Games with Gold works on their website, and we now know when we can expect the free games to hit each month. Two games will be made available for free on the 1st and 16th of each month, and will last for half of the month before being switched out for the next game. Fable III is the current free game, and the offer ends on June 30th; in July, Assassin’s Creed II and Halo 3 will offered. This program will continue until the end of the year.

Of course, as the name of the program suggests, you’ll need an Xbox Live Gold account to take advantage of the free games. Again, similar to the Instant Games Collection that comes with PlayStation Plus.
