With Microsoft and Xbox Live moving away from Microsoft Points, the service’s rewards program will also undergo a bit of change.

Starting on August 1st, Microsoft Points will no longer be given out as rewards, and are to be replaced with something ‘even better,’ according to a statement that appeared on the Xbox Rewards website:

“Not to worry, though! Since this currency change is impacting the structure of the program, we’re taking the opportunity to make Xbox Live Rewards even better. You’ll continue to get rewarded for doing the things you love on Xbox Live – just not with Microsoft Points.”

A full description of where the service is headed is set to be revealed at the start of September. In the meantime, maybe stock up on some Microsoft Points? They’re supposed to transition over when Xbox Live stops supporting them, according to this FAQ regarding the changes.
