It was last October that Microsoft slashed the Xbox One’s price-tag down to size in the good ‘ole US of A and now it looks like the company’s doing it again, this time for a whole lot longer. We don’t know for how long yet, but at the time of this writing (Jan. 16th), the Xbox One’s down to $349. For good, apparently.
Just two weeks after the system went back up to its standard retail price of $399 Jan. 3rd, Microsoft’s touted that the Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US during both November and December.
According to the company, the Xbox One’s average weekly sales as of late have outpaced the Xbox 360 by over 50 percent during the same period in the latter’s lifecycle.
Microsoft also concluded that over 18 million games have been played in the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta and counting.
Xbox division head Phil Spencer personally thanked the company’s fans as part of the system’s rapid success.
“Since it launched last year, Xbox Feedback has been instrumental in helping us best determine what our fans want and expect from us, and it’s clear that the Xbox One wouldn’t be what it is today without their valued input,” Spencer said. “We’re incredibly proud of the Xbox One and are fully committed to ensuring it’s the best place to play console games in 2015 and beyond.”
