Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One can record and store up to five minutes of gameplay on its hard drive, thanks to its new video capturing feature. The need to press or say ‘record’ is unnecessary, as the Xbox One will contain an always updating recording.
Microsoft Studios creative director Ken Lobb confirmed the news to GameSpot while at San Diego Comic-Con, and went on to further detail the system, stating that users can also say ‘Xbox Record’ and the system will proceed to record the last 30 seconds of footage.
The PlayStation 4, which has a similar feature, has been said to record up to 15 minutes of footage, but there doesn’t appear to be any concrete details supporting that claim. Eurogamer reports that SCEE’s Neil Brown said ‘seven minutes’ while at Develop 2013, but later corrected himself, as he meant to say ‘several minutes.’
