Microsoft’s current gen console will be getting a screenshot feature, but not until 2015. In an interview with IGN, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that, “as we come back into the new year, we’ll see new stuff, and screenshots is on the list”. Apparently the team tasked with creating the screenshot feature have run into some unexpected problems. It’s a little more technically challenging than I thought,” said Spencer. “Two weeks ago, they think they’ve found a good solution for screenshots. They’re working on it. They know people want it. The team has a path to getting it done, and now it’s just prioritising.” The fact that the PlayStation 4 has a screenshot feature and the Xbox One does not was highlighed recently by the release of Photo Mode for Shadow of Mordor.
Aside from the screenshot feature, Spencer also confirmed that he is working hard to reduce the Xbox One’s loading times. “It’s one of the things that’s on top of my list in terms of the parity experience between us and Sony,” he said, ”making sure that the install times aren’t deficient on Xbox in any way.”
