XCOM fans can rejoice at the news that the standalone title, XCOM: Chimera Squad, has a release date! XCOM: Chimera Squad is set to be released on April 24th, exclusively for Windows PC. This is a digital release with a special introductory price of $9.99 on Steam. Be quick, because from May 1st it will be priced at $19.99.
XCOM Chimera Squad PC Release Confirmed
Set five very, very long years after XCOM 2, XCOM: Chimera Squad will see players jumping into a world where humans, aliens and funky hybrids live in City 31. You will join the Chimera Squad; an elite force of agents who work to fight against hidden threats that lurk under the city.
2K and Firaxis Games, the studios behind the XCOM series have been working on this title after the anticipation that came with XCOM 2. “We know fans have been eager to dive back into the world of XCOM,” said Melissa Bell, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Marketing at 2K. “XCOM: Chimera Squad offers tremendous value and we’re intentionally lowering the barriers of entry for new fans to the franchise with a game XCOM veterans will really enjoy.”
Not only is the game a total promise of XCOM nostalgia; but it is also a community-driven project. Steve Martin, President at Firaxis Games also states: “We’re inspired by our passionate community and excited by the opportunity to create a dynamic, innovative, and unique XCOM experience for both fans of our games and new players in XCOM: Chimera Squad,”
