Xherdan Shaqiri has been revealed as the latest footballer to feature on the front cover of EA Sports’ FIFA 15 for his home country of Switzerland.
EA confirmed the news on Twitter that FC Bayern München’s 22-year-old midfielder will be joining FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi on the box art for this year’s highly anticipated installment in the renowned football franchise.

Shaqiri enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign this summer with Switzerland as he helped his country quality from Group E and, more importantly, scored a hat-trick against Honduras during the tournament. However, Shaqiri has failed to secure regular first-team football for his club recently, leaving speculation to be fueled that he would be leaving the Bundesliga champions this summer, with Liverpool and Manchester United rumored to be interested in acquiring his services in the Barclays Premier League.
EA has already revealed a range of different players who will feature alongside Messi on the box art of FIFA 15, which includes Gonzalo Higuaín (Italy), Tim Cahill (Australia and New Zealand), Clint Dempsey (United States and Canada) and, of course, Shaqiri’s team-mates David Alaba (Austria) and Robert Lewandowski (Poland).
FIFA 15 will be released late September on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and PC.
