It’s becoming something of a theme in gaming that all the big titles of 2014 are being pushed back to next year. Today we can add another title to that long list, Battlefield: Hardline. EA today confirmed that the game will be missing its October release date and will come out in early 2015 instead. The publisher stated in a blog post that they wanted to include more content in the game but that, ”we would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.”
EA also stressed that this extra time in development is needed to ”to optimize the game for a stable launch”. Stability will be an area of focus for the developers after the severe problems suffered by last year’s Battlefield 4. The game was a mess at launch and received incredibly negative feedback from fans. By delaying Battlefield: Hardline, EA is looking to avoid the mistakes of the past and to restore the franchise’s reputation.
Yet this is not EA’s only delay. The company have also announced that Dragon Age: Inquisition will not be coming out in October either. Thankfully it has not been delayed as far as 2015 and has a new release date of November 18.
