Yoshi’s Wooly World is Getting Amiibos Made Out of…Yarn

If you thought those yarn Yoshi plushes of Nintendo’s last E3 were just too cute for their own good, than you’re about to see a whole lot more of ’em.

Yoshi’s Wooly World‘s only the latest Wii U game to get its own lineup of Amiibo figurines, all of them a bit softer (and arguably even cuter) than their plastic peers. The series is, for now, limited to three Yarn Yoshi Amiibos of the green, blue, and pink kind. According to Nintendo’s Direct today, the Amiibos will bring a second, in-game Yoshi to your Wooly World session, allowing players to guide a “double Yoshi” to beat certain puzzle segments.

We don’t know just yet how many other games Nintendo plans on making these plush Amiibos compatible with, but all of them are identical in properties, yarn or otherwise. By all accounts they’ll also be, like their harder peers, totally optional add-ons for in-game completion.

As the Direct’s shown us below (bottom right), just press Yoshi’s butt against your Wii U gamepad’s left NFC corner and pluck your virtual Yoshi into the game. And the best thing? It’s apparently coming overseas to North America and beyond along with Wooly World this fall. Nope, nothing more specific than that yet.

Yoshi’s Woolly World will further feature two game modes: “Classic” Mode and “Mellow” mode, which you can switch at any time. Similar to other Yoshi games, Classic Mode’s supposedly quite challenging, for veteran games or otherwise. Mellow mode, meanwhile, lets players take to the skies as a winged, carefree Yoshi.

Tell us: Are you planning on putting this Yoshi iteration on your shelf?
