Homefront: The Revolution is going to be making its way on store shelves in May of this year, but the hype really only seems to be beginning now for the sequel to 2011’s Homefront. A new trailer has been released which details more of the game’s co-op functionality in Resistance Mode. Along with this, Xbox One users will have the opportunity to participate in a closed beta which begins on February 11th and ends on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. Dedicated stress tests for Homefront: The Revolution will occur on January 29th, and February 5th, giving members of the Homefront community an opportunity to play the Resistance Mode prior to the official launch of the closed beta.
Homefront: The Revolution is going to have a 30-plus hour campaign, but those who want to play with friends can look forward to roughly twelve highly replayable missions in Resistance Mode. Supporting up to four players co-operatively, the mode looks to add some persistence and longevity by having unlockable gear that can be upgraded, on top of skills to acquire and weapon blueprints. Hasit Zala, game designer at Dambuster Studios, stated in a press release that he hopes “to release another 20 Missions within the first year…” after Homefront: The Revolution comes out. These missions are also going to be narrative-driven, which means there will hopefully be more than just a reason to shoot things.
Pre-ordered copies of the game will contain a “revolutionary Spirit” pack that contains unlocked weapons for the campaign, as well as unique skins. On top of this, there is a post-launch plan to release free content updates on a regular basis, including the Resistance Mode missions added later. Dambuster Studios is an in-house team of Deep Silver, comprised of a lot of former Crytek UK employees. Homefront: The Revolution is their first game as a studio, and will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, on May 17th, 2016 in North America and May 20th, 2016 in other territories.
