You Could Own an Oculus Rift as Soon as Next Year

You could be playing around with virtual reality in your own home as soon as next year, the makers of Oculus Rift have announced.

As its officially site, Oculus.com, reports, the VR device is just months away from a retail release. It claims that this version “builds on the presence, immersion, and comfort of the Crescent Bay prototype with an improved tracking system that supports both seated and standing experiences, as well as a highly refined industrial design, and updated ergonomics for a more natural fit.”

Oculus raised roughly $2.4 million to make its VR aspirations come true and since the company’s purchase by Facebook, work on the device doesn’t seem to have lightened up.

It’s also released two new screenshots of the intended retail version from the back where you’ll be sticking your eyeballs (left) and the front where you won’t be sticking your eyeballs. (right) Oculus has promised that it’ll be dropping some more tech specs next week. Stay tuned.

Tell us if it doesn’t look the slightest bit like the inside of Darth Vader’s helmet.
