Wasted Brilliance has announced the release of its debut title Aeternum on Xbox 360’s indie marketplace.
Aeternum is a side-scrolling bullet-hell shooter which the press release describes as “the kind of old-school title that should make any child of the 16-bit era proud”. The game is priced at just $1 (80 MSP).
A PC version of the game is apparently “in the works”, with an eye on an early 2013 release. This version will include “additional dialogue, a new playable character and an EX stage/boss”. The latter will also be patched into the Xbox version of the game.
The subgenre of bullet-hell shooter is often associated with a high level of difficulty, and Aeternum is apparently no exception, as Wasted Brilliance has announced a competition alongside the game’s release: “we’re offering up a prize for the first person to show us they can really best the game. All you need to do, is record yourself doing a full play through of Aeternum on Demonic, with no continues (aka a full 1CC), post it to YouTube and let us know to have a look! The first person (or maybe a few people, who knows!) to do this will get a super special package shipped to them”.
The developer added, “If you do it on Lunatic instead, we’ll make the pot even sweeter.”
