Condemned 3 Development Could Be Outsourced to an Indie Studio

How would a Condemned 3 game sound to all you horror fans out there? I’d hope you would say “HELL YEAHHH”. Enough of all that, would the game be published with it’s old team, or be outsourced to a new set of capable hands to adventure within the world of the psychological horror genre?

The following idea was put forth by the co-creator of the series, Jace Hall via Facebook on Feb 1.

“Deep thought..and question…

I helped to create a video game console franchise called “Condemned.” I currently own the entire franchise.

There have been 2 game titles released for the franchise, “Condemned: Criminal Origins” and “Condemned: Bloodshot” – they both did well, and I am consistently asked when a third game might be created.

Since I am focused on other things, and will be for quite some time, this franchise is just sitting there.

I am contemplating finding an interested and proven Indie development team AND PROVIDING IT TO THEM, so that they can take over the franchise and move it forward.

As an indie, it can be very hard to get marketing/media attention for a title that you work on. This franchise is already quite known, has market demand, and is in an innovative genre/category.

Should I explore this idea further? What say you all?”

The horror demon inside me says YES BRING IT ON BABY, but then I stop to think: well how would it change from the previous games? Would it be multiplatorm now? What direction will the indie or new studio take on the franchise, and will Jace still have control over the development of the title?

All these questions need to be answered before I would accept the development of a new Condemned game, only because I have not yet played Condemned at all, but I know that it was quite a well received horror game for it’s time. How would this style of combat horror be changed or altered for the better with next gen consoles and PC in mind?

I want to leave you with one more question: Will a new developer’s style of making games rub off well on the franchise, or would it hinder it in some way?
