Doki Doki Literature Club is one of those games that seems innocent and normal on the surface. After all, there are a ton of visual novel games and date sims where you meet pretty girls. However, Doki Doki Literature Club is a little different. Those who have played it are very aware that this game is in fact a psychological horror game.
Specifically, it explores the horrors of high school romance. When the developers tag the game with things like “self-harm”, “suicide” and “sexually suggestive themes”, you know you’re in for quite a ride. It is also one of the most critically acclaimed horror games since its release.
Coming June 30th
Doki Doki Literature Club follows the main character as he reluctantly joins a literature club in an attempt to swoon the girls in it. Sayori, Natsuki, Yuri, and Monika all await your attempts at charming them. Of course, if you make any mistakes along the way, you can just erase them, in search of the perfect ending.
The new Plus version includes some additional features:
- 6 new Side Stories about friendship and literature, totaling hours of new content
- 100+ unlockable images including new game art, wallpapers, never-before-seen concept sketches, and more
- 26 total music tracks, including 13 all-new unlockable songs by Nikki Kaelar, plus special guests Jason Hayes and Azuria Sky
- A built-in DDLC music player to unwind with your favorite songs in a custom playlist, or loop a single track forever
- A high-fidelity visual upgrade with all artwork now in Full HD (1080p)
The new Plus version will be available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It also comes to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles on June 30th this summer. Physical versions will also be available, so check out the game’s website for more information.
