2020 is really looking to be the year of cyberpunk. With Cyberpunk 2077 coming out in November, it seems 3D Realms and One More Level are also getting in on the action. The futuristic first-person slasher Ghostrunner was previously announced at PAX 2020.

From what we’ve been able to tell so far after getting our hands on the demo, the game has a lot of style. But the demo also had a lot of minor issues and jank that we hope will be polished before the release of the main game. With some tweaks, this could easily be one of the most interesting games to come out this year.

An Epic First-Person Slasher

The release trailer shows off what we can expect from Ghostrunner The focus will be on running and slashing up your enemies. And the focus is more on parkouring your way around bullets to get up close and personal than using guns. In fact, the only weapon you have is your cyber katana.

This approach to combat means you’re vulnerable, but also insanely powerful if you use your skills correctly and well. The demo already has an active speedrunning scene, which shows that people are very eager to not only beat this game but do it as fast as possible.

What we played of Ghostrunner seemed to support this as there are tricks you can do to increase your speed. But it also seemed you lost a lot of momentum too easily in the demo. So we hope that the full version will feel smoother to play in that regard.

You can play the full version of Ghostrunner on October 27th 2020. That is a near whole month before the release of Cyberpunk 2077. So if you need something to warm you up and get you in the mood, this might be just the thing.

If you want to remain updated on all things related to Ghostrunner, you can check out the Steam page and wishlist the game. You can also keep an eye on Bagogames as we will be covering any updates related to Ghostrunner and Cyberpunk. Keep running!
