Insomnia 54 – Pneuma: Breath of Life (Including Giveaway)

One indie game really caught my eye last weekend at Insomnia 54, and although it had already been released, was the first time I had seen it; Pneuma: Breath of Life. It instantly interested me with it’s shiny and polished visuals, but I was just scratching the surface on this unique game. The gameplay was one of the simplest I have seen, where all you have to do, using only the thumbsticks (or mouse), is to look at the eye shaped objects that interact with something in the environment. When there’s a closed door, somewhere in the room is the eye, just find it and keep your eye on it to keep the door open to the next area. It’s as simple as that… except it’s not. Pneuma gets extremely challenging with all combinations of puzzles in giant, impressive rooms, and the developer told me that almost half of the public who tried the game at Insomnia gave up during the second level, that’s right, the second level of the entire game.

Although the player is alone in the world, you will be kept entertained by the fantastic voice acting by award winning voice actor Jay Britton with his role as God, or at least some kind of God who seems to be a very happy-go-lucky character and will say anything on his mind only to himself. I also played Pneuma on the Occulus Rift, which made it an even better experience as using your eyes is the entire experience of the game. Great writing, a fun puzzle game but it won’t be loved by all. Check out this trailer below, and if you want a copy yourself we are also holding competitions right here and on our social media sites, so make sure to enter and if you don’t win you can purchase the game for Steam right here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/347440/
